How the pandemic caused by Covid-19 affected the agri-food sector of the economy. Proposals for the recovery of the sector and the utilization of the subsidies of the new CAP

11/03/2021

The president and CEO of Proactive, Nikos Bounakis, spoke to Livetalks about the programs currently running, the new CAP and the effects of the pandemic.
"The pandemic has not left unscathed even agricultural production, which has been tested all this time," said Proactive president and CEO Nikos Bounakis, speaking to Livetalks.

Mr. Bounakis referred to the specific sectors affected such as wine and oil "which is a special category anyway as Greece does not control the distribution networks". As he pointed out, "there we have received a blow even though we do not determine many things. Consider that the first company in Spain bottles 70,000 tons of olive oil, which is what the whole of Greece does"!

The president of Proactive referred to the programs currently running, the new CAP but also what a new farmer or someone who wants to enter the primary sector should do. "the main thing that is needed is land, to have enough that it is sustainable and of course to change the mentality" he said.
